Carrier loss run guide
Travelers Loss Run Request, Step by Step
To get a Travelers loss run, an appointed agent of record can usually pull it through the agent portal. A new broker sends a written request with the insured's signed letter of authority, FEIN, policy numbers and periods to the loss run channel Travelers publishes. Allow about 10 business days, which varies.

How to request a Travelers loss run
Five steps that work for the agent of record, a new broker with a letter of authority or the insured.
-
1
Collect policy details
Get the declarations pages for each Travelers policy from the insured: named insured, FEIN, policy numbers and policy periods for the last five years.
-
2
Get a signed letter of authority
Have an officer of the insured sign a letter of authority that names your agency and lets Travelers release loss history to you.
-
3
Send to the right channel
If you are appointed and the agent of record, pull the loss run from the Travelers agent portal. Otherwise send the request with a signed letter of authority to the loss run channel shown on the Travelers website.
-
4
Follow up on a schedule
Follow up on day 3, day 7 and day 14 if no reply arrives, and confirm the current loss run channel with the carrier if the request is not acknowledged.
-
5
Check the reply
Confirm every policy period is present, totals add up and the valuation date is within 90 days before you send the loss run to market.

The same process applies to every carrier. Our guide on how to request loss runs covers the full workflow, and if you are new to the document itself, start with what a loss run report is.
What to include in a Travelers loss run request
A complete request is the fastest request. Missing policy numbers or an unsigned authorization are the usual reasons a carrier does not reply.
- Named insured exactly as shown on the Travelers policy, plus any additional named insureds
- FEIN of the insured
- Every policy number and policy period, including prior and cancelled terms
- Number of years requested, usually five
- Lines of coverage you need (for example workers compensation)
- Letter of authority signed by the insured
- Where to send the loss run: your email address or a secure upload link
- Request for a current valuation date with paid, reserved and incurred amounts
Use a ready request letter
Our loss run request letter has every field above, with a letter of authority block for the insured to sign. For workers comp history, see workers comp loss runs for the medical and indemnity detail markets expect.
The insured can usually request their own Travelers loss runs too, which helps when a carrier is slow to answer a broker.
How LossRunReports sends the Travelers request
One request center for every carrier. The signed letter of authority goes out with the request, and follow-ups run on day 3, 7 and 14 until the loss run arrives.

Replies land on a dedicated inbound address or a secure upload link. PDF, scanned, XLSX and CSV loss runs are read into one claims schema, totals are reconciled, and gaps, duplicates and valuations older than 90 days are flagged. Tips for Travelers loss runs
Travelers writes many lines for one account. Name each line you need so workers comp, auto and package are all returned.
Workers comp loss runs should show medical and indemnity split and open reserves. Ask for both.
For larger accounts ask whether large loss detail is available, since many underwriters require a narrative over a set threshold.
Confirm the valuation date on the reply. A loss run older than 90 days is usually sent back by the market.
Travelers loss run questions
Who can request a Travelers loss run?
The insured, the agent of record and any broker the insured authorizes in writing with a signed letter of authority.
Can I get workers comp and liability on one request?
You can ask for every line in one request. List each policy number so the reply covers all of them.
What if a Travelers policy is in runoff?
Name the policy number and period anyway. Loss history for expired policies is still requested the same way.
